MiniFrame multi-user solutions tested with Netop School6
MiniFrame, a provider of multi-user software solutions has partnered with Netop to validate the functionality of Netop School6 with their virtualization software. MiniFrame's SoftXpand solution uses a unique load balancing, virtualization technique to transform a standard Windows PC into multiple independent workstations. Unlike thin client solutions, SoftXpand does not require proprietary hardware. Each SoftXpand workstation's performance is equal to the original host PC's performance, with SoftXpand supporting every type of application, including multimedia applications, video and flash, and in and out sound; the user experience is identical to that of a standard PC. When combined with Netop Schoolcustomers receive all the benefits of a cost-effective, state-of-the-art, multi-user IT suite, with optimum classroom management facilities.
Netop School6 provides an all-in-one solution for classroom management that includes a comprehensive set of features for teaching with computers.
The two standard modules provided with Netop School are the Teacher module and the Student module. Three additional optional modules are available to support the specialized needs of school environments:
- that make extensive use of Terminal Services;
- or that require name resolution for dynamically generated IP addresses;

Teachers use Netop School to engage and interact with students
"I use Netop School to create an interactive classroom atmosphere where my students can connect with me and their class better than ever before. The ability to monitor classroom activity while teaching has increased efficiency and the software has really improved demonstrations. I cannot imagine teaching without it."
Kathy Zainea, Lincoln Middle School
Ideal Solution for Lab Management at Washington Country Public Schools
"After struggling with previous complicated and unreliable classroom management systems, we knew we needed a better solution of our district's large student population. Netop School has now been installed in 42 institutions throughout the K-12 school system and reaches a potential student body of 20,000."
"We had problem after problem with our previous system. It was hard to deploy the previous software to different schools and was unreliable. That has all changed with Netop School, it's really easy."
Jimmy Green, Washington Country Public Schools

Learning Enters A New Age At Teignmouth Community College
"I would put Netop School far ahead of interactive whiteboards in terms of teaching effectiveness. Whiteboards still hark back to traditional teaching methods that haven't changed the fundamental teacher-pupil dynamics. Remote tutoring works because pupils can now look at their own screen which creates a far more intimate, responsive learning environment."
"I am very familiar with remote teaching solutions, having worked with them in various roles for seven years now. Netop School showed clear functional advantages over its competitors in terms of reliability."
John Lunn, Head of ICT, Teignmouth Community College.
Netop sets tone for learning environment at Scottsdale Community College
"Netop School has given us a tremendous cost savings over our previous system. Both in terms of times and money saved, the software has been a great success."
"The key benefit is that it sets the tone for the learning environment. "We cannot monitor all distractions within a class, such as cell phones or PDAs, but the software creates an atmosphere which gets the students serious about learning."
Grant Gagnon, Director of College Technology, Scottsdale Community College

Netop School "Thinks like a teacher"
"Being able to see every student's screen on my computer is a boon to me. It has changed my teaching style. Now, I don't have to run around the classroom from computer to computer to keep students involved. I can focus on teaching."
"From a teacher's point of view, this software is very easy to use. It is so intuitive that everyone catches on quickly. Netop School thinks like a teacher."
Steve West, Asheville Middle School

Teachers excited to use latest teaching methods in technology classrooms
"More and more teachers are requesting Netop School installations every day. Teachers will see their colleagues using a blocking feature, or how easy it is for the teacher to demonstrate a particular point and then they will come find me and say, 'Hey, I want that!'"
"The teachers have found that their favorite aspect of Netop School is the quiz feature. They can quickly create a quiz on material the class has just learned and distribute it to each computer in the classroom. Just as easily, they get the quiz back and can grade it."
John Antonacci, Collier Country School District

Direct modeling makes teaching more effective, improves retention
Using Vision, Daniel Gould, a middle school language arts teacher in Whitefish, Mont., has found it easier to teach computer applications to his seventh and eighth-grade students.
"Students understand complex, computer-related instruction much better because it's right in
front of them on their own screens. They see it, then they do it," Gould says, adding "Their
retention is better, so that amount of time struggling with the program is reduced,
and they can get their work done."
Most gratifying is that students seem to better retain information, so there's less re-teaching
of computer applications during the school year.
Daniel Gould, Whitefish Public Schools
Inspiring student achievement, reducing failure rates
"Utilizing a classroom management system improves the final grade average in
the order of a full grade step, far fewer students fail, and the spread of grades is significantly
narrower. In addition, the overall classroom setting improves in terms of behavior and
discipline."
Dr. Robert Joyce, Elon University

The PrintLimit Pro Payment Gateway module provides universities and other organizations implementing pay-per-use printing with the ability to enable students and other users to purchase printing credits via credit cards, PayPal and other standard systems. The PrintLimit Pro Payment Gateway Module is an additional component that provides services that allow users to transfer funds from an external source into their personal Print-Limit Pro account. Examples of its use include:
Online payment
Larger organization such as universities or colleges may wish to provide online payment via 3rd services such as those provided by banks or organizations like PayPal and VeriSign. The payment interface may be provided for internal use (i.e. for student-only use), or opened up for external access to allow parents to make payments via the web. The Payment Gateway module can hook into a number of leading service providers or may be quickly adapted to fit others.
Student fee/management systems
A number of leading higher education organizations use the Payment Gateway module to allow students to transfer small amounts of credit into their print account. At the end of semester/term, this amount is totaled up and added to their fees/loan. The Payment Gateway module can be configured to automatically debit the student management records or an external database system.
Cashless systems
Organizations that use a centralized point-of-sale (POS) system to manage cashless payment on campus can benefit from the PrintLimit Pro Payment Gateway. These systems provide a database of users and interfaces/API's to withdraw funds from a centralized database. The Payment Gateway module can be configured to use these API's to transfer/withdraw funds from the central database.
Custom applications
The Payment Gateway module supports plug-ins and can quickly be customized to support other 3rd party systems. The customization can be performed by either the PrintLimit Pro development team or internally using your own development staff/skills. Netop Learning Center boosts effective training at JYSK
The Danish business man, Lars Larsen, opened his first bedding shop in 1979, and since then the JYSK empire has grown to a global group with shops in 26 different countries and a staff of nearly 12,000. As a result of massive global growth, JYSK has acknowledged its acute need to have effective and measurable control over its employee training program. E-learning has become one of the preferred training methods within the company.
"Before we used traditional methods to train our employees. We had a mobile team of skilled trainers that drove out to our employees and trained them up in the new systems and products. We didn't have a centralized system for the training, which made the process even more cumbersome. Later, we changed to e-learning, but with our old system it wasn't possible to follow up on completed courses and, as a result, we had no precise data that could tell us whether the trianing had any value."
Pernille Skou, E-Learning Consultant, JYSK.
A year ago, the company decided to optimize the training process even further and, after a long and thorough testing process, Netop Learning Center was chosen.
"Out of the many products that we tested, there was no doubt that Netop Learning Center was the right choice for us. We had a list of tough specifications regarding availability and usability that needed to be within a simple and straightforward design, and these requirements were met by Netop Learning Center."
Pernille Skou
JYSK saves time and resources with the Netop Learning Center
The Netop Learning Center works as a central education system for JYSK's shop assistants, with the main focus on IT system training and new products. With the Netop Learning Center, JYSK can also continuously keep itself informed on who has completed courses and what the results were. Using the Netop Learning Center eases the training workflow and frees up resources at JYSK, and that is good for business.
"Netop Learning Center allows us to quickly find out who needs training and who needs to be refreshed on our different systems. This means we can be quicker at strengthening the competencies of our employees and, not least, save money."
Pernille Skou
